The problems I had when building my new PC

Last week I build a new PC for myself. It is no the first time I build one, but in this recent build I had an extraordinary amount of issues.

Putting the parts together:

This was actually the easiest part. Because I put a lot of thought into what parts I was going to use I had no problem there. Confidentially that everything would work, I also had the cable management pre-made by a friend. We put everything in an tried to turn it on, but then it happened...

The rise of issues

The computer didn't turn on, so we checked every cable connected, re-seated the Graphics-Card and RAMM, and looked for every possible problem that could be. Because we weren't able to identify the cause, we unscrewed everything, destroying the beautiful cable management and made a test-bench on my desk.

The Power Supply?

One thing we noticed, was that the Power-Supply always turned itself one without getting a signal from the computer. So we got another computer used its power supply and the computer worked! But after switching back the computer also worked with the old Power-Supply. This left us confused.

The real cause:

After inspecting the PC I found the real cause why the computer might not turned on. The Power button was put in the wrong way, which means the Ground Pin of the power button wasn't touching the ground pin of the motherboards connection.

All in all this was such a small mistake which cost me an entire afternoon and now I know when building a PC or anything else, the smallest thing can cause a big problem.
